The wires, brackets, spacers and bands of your traditional braces represent a serious investment in providing you with the ideal alignment for your teeth. It your braces are damaged it most likely will lengthen the amount of time you have to need to wear them.

If something breaks on your braces you should call us immediately to give you advice or schedule an appointment to fix the problem.

When your orthodontist first fitted you for braces they gave you a piece of special orthodontic wax. If a metal bracket or broken wire is poking into your cheek or gums, you can secure it inside the wax until you can make it to your appointment. If you don’t have orthodontic wax on hand you can use a pencil eraser.

It’s not uncommon for one or more spacers to fall out shortly before your next schedule adjustment session. If one of the metal bands comes loose don’t try to put it back on.
