Pregnancy can be an exciting time in your life, but it might not be for the smile if you’re not careful. This means you need to do all you can to keep your teeth and gums in tip-top shape while you grow your bun in your oven. To help you do so, Dr. Raymond R. Niles has some helpful tips for you.
Our first tip is to prevent enamel erosion. This dental issue occurs when acid attacks the teeth and wears them down. Unfortunately, if you have morning sickness, your vomit has acid that can attack your smile and cause erosion. It’s important to save your teeth by brushing after 30 minutes has passed.
Our second tip is to prevent gum disease as much as possible. Gum disease can do more than harm your smile—it can also affect your pregnancy. So, please keep gum disease at bay by brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing your teeth once a day, and rinsing your mouth daily. It’s also vital to visit Niles Dental every six months for a routine dental cleaning and exam.
